Systems OS Administrator
We are searching for a talented IT professional that will play a key role and contribute to the successful operation of our company.
Responsibilities:
I – Infrastructure management
· Installation, configuration, and support of the following technologies: x86-based server hardware, Microsoft Windows server operating systems, Linux OS, networking products (routers, switches, VPN devices, firewalls, authentication servers, DNS, DHCP and IP load balancers).
· Support the infrastructure by developing processes necessary for the successful operation of the company’s infrastructure.
o Operational monitoring and preventative maintenance of all data center systems and components.
o Manage internal wireless and wired network and security infrastructure to 99.99% availability 7/24.
o Responsibility for voice infrastructure and PBX (Nortel) to 99.99% availability 7/24.
o Manage shared file storage to 99.99% availability 7/24; ensures backup and archival of all data is performed consistently, reliably and accurately, including data stored on personal computers.
o 24x7 On-call support on a rotational basis (when staff level permits).
o Participation in scheduled after-hours maintenance windows.
· Ensures compliance with licensing requirements.
· Maintains library of images to expedite return-to-service in case of catastrophic failure of computer equipment.
· Ensures all office computer equipment (personal computer, shared laptops, office servers) and related peripherals are operating at the optimal level, including OS patches, hardware patches and security updates.
· Performs preventative maintenance on servers and computing equipment used at events, which includes re-imaging devices periodically; diagnose hardware problems and supports the Engineering department in deploying Engineering Change Orders (ECO) as required.
II - Manage the on-site and collocation site infrastructure equipment, external network interfaces, and configuration
· Accountable for the operational status of the company's collocation infrastructure.
o Ensures readiness of equipment at all times.
o Maintains all corporate server OS configurations at approved version level(s).
o Establish performance metric thresholds; track, trend and report on key performance metrics on a periodic basis.
o Investigates OS patches and security updates; recommends OS upgrades along with urgency level.
o Recommends equipment upgrades.
III - Help desk - Office technical support / operations
· Responsibility for supporting the entire nTAG team by acquiring, configuring, and maintaining user equipment including desktops and laptops, printers, etc..
· Analyzing problems and determining the appropriate course of action/remedy.
· Provide desk-side assistance as required.
· Responsible for user account creation and deletion.
IV - Application support
· Manage infrastructure applications (electronic messaging, corporate web sites, document & knowledge management, etc.) to 99.99% availability.
· Define and implement all support policies and procedures.
V - Administrative duties
· Assists the department head in developing the IS operating and capital budget.
· Tracks and spends the operating and capital budget.
· Manage 3rd party service provider relationships.
· Other Duties, as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
· At least 4 years experience as a Systems Administrator.
· Comprehensive knowledge of LAN Administration.
· Responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of Linux systems.
· Familiar with Opensource structure.
· Strong networking knowledge TCP/IP, DNS, FTP, & SMTP.
· Technically proficient with Windows XP and Microsoft Exchange.
· Experience with Dell switches, servers, desktops, and laptops.
· Experience independently managing multiple projects.
· Professionalism: Attention to detail, follow-up, and using good judgment is paramount.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated customer service acumen.
· Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
· Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. MCSE and RHCP preferred. MCP required.
