Systems Programmer/Analyst Sr

The University of Michigan Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT)  Networking & Security team is responsible for managing the network infrastructure for both the Hospital and Medical School. We manage over 700 network switches/routers, 4M sq. feet of wireless networking, two data centers connected via DWDM switches and mulitple firewalls. We are seeking a senior data center network engineer to help manage and support all network technologies within our two data center environments. The candidate would be a member of a team responsible for managing and supporting the Cisco 6500 series switches and routers, Cisco CS 11500 and ACE contect switches, Cisco Firewall Service Modules (FWSM) and ONS DWDM equipment.



Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years experience in managing and supporting Cisco 6500 routers and switches in a large enterprise environment. Expert Level knowledge of Cisco's IOS Operating system Extensive hands-on experience supporting Cisco's Call Manager and Voice-over-IP (VoIP) networks Experience developing and maintaining content switching/load balancing using Cisco CS11500 and Application Control Engine (ACE) in complex multi-datacenter environment Experience in supporting and maintaining Cisco 15454 Multiservice Optical networking platform Experience in supporting and maintaining Cisco Firewall Service Modules (FWSM) in a complex multi-datacenter environment Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience supporting Cisco's LWAP wireless infrastructure in a large, multi-building environment Strong understanding of server technologies such as VMware, HP Virtual connect, IBM HACMP, port channeling and blade server technologies Candidate should have understanding of application and web server environment like WebSphere, Apache/Tomcat, ISS and Oracle. Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.

 

Desired Qualifications 7+ years experience in managing and supporting Cisco 6500 routers and switches in a large enterprise environment Experience support Cisco?s Global Site Selector (GSS) in a multi-data center environment An understanding of routing protocols such as OSPF, RIP2, and BGP is desirable Experience in supporting iSCSI or fiber channel SAN experience is desirable Experience in supporting and maintaining Checkpoint firewalls and VPN IPSec services Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, RSS, and DNS Experience support DNS is a large, complex environment Proven technical leader with solid operating system administration skills, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a dynamic, fast paced environment Trained and experienced in Project Management.
