A Systems Technical Support consultant is needed in Cambridge, MA to provide hosting support to external clients. This assignment requires strong technical professionals specializing in web hosting server administration and management.

 

The consultant will manage the client hosting servers and application infrastructure platforms remotely. The consultant will be responsible for troubleshooting, analysis, fault resolution, configuration management, change management and performance management. The consultant will be required to monitor database performance and perform required tuning, manage space utilization, perform backup and recovery procedures, verify utility outputs and perform the installation of patches and upgrades.

 

Responsibilities include:

- Restoring service on outage conditions

- Participating in technical calls on outages and assisting with communications

- Performing Change Control / MACD work

- Adhering to fault management ticketing documentation

- Assisting / Mentoring associates as needed

- Fault resolution and ticket closure per Tier 3 queue

 

Required Technical Skills:

-MS Server 2003, 2000, NT 4.0

-MS Clustering, SQL Clustering

-Oracle, Networking, Citrix MetaFrame, Lotus Domino/Notes

-MS Advanced Server 2000, MS Enterprise Server 2003 and MS NT 4.0 platforms

-Hewlett Packard Proliant line of Servers, Storage Works & MSA storage arrays

-Dell Power Edge line of Servers, Dell/EMC storage arrays

 

Desired Technical Skills:

Communication devices; DHCP; DNS; Active Directory; MS SMS, Event Mgmt; FTP Servers; Internet/Intranet Application Servers; Internet Information Servers; Proxy Servers; Load Balancing; Server Utilities; BMC Patrol and HP ITO with knowledge of SQL Server 2000/2005, and Oracle; Microsoft .NET Framework and XML (Metadata); Remedy, Veritas Net Backup, Webtrends, BizTalk, MS Virtual Server and/or VMware ESX technology

 

Requirements:

-4 year IT or Computer Science Degree or equivalent technical certification

-A minimum of 5 to 8 years experience in Server administration is required
