TECHNICAL WRITER
This position is in support of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Extramural Research, Electronic Research Administration (eRA). The eRA is NIH's infrastructure for conducting interactive electronic transactions for the receipt, review, monitoring, and administration of NIH grant awards to biomedical investigators worldwide. Individual will serve as a technical writer on a team of technical writers and trainers responsible for developing, organizing and maintaining content, writing and editing detailed manuals, release notices and other materials as needed. Research, write, and publish technical documentation, user guides, release notes, training, and other materials for internal and/or external distribution. Format documents in accordance with eRA standards or as appropriate. As assigned, review, rewrite, edit, and assist in the development of documents being prepared by others. Maintain appropriate interface with technical experts to ensure timely receipt of source material. Work closely and cooperatively with technical experts to identify any current or anticipated problems that could have a detrimental effect on document quality or delivery. Keep supervisor informed of status of work in progress as well as any circumstances that could negatively impact document quality or on-time delivery. Requirements:* Good technical and end-user communication skills, ability to convey technical material with accuracy, clarity, readability, and efficiency * Solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Windows, Web interface standards, technical documentation standards * Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, accuracy, and the willingness to research and learn technical information, as needed * Organized, dependable, adaptable, and able to work effectively and amiably under the pressure of multiple projects, and tight deadlines * Demonstrated ability to work independently or under only general direction. * At least three years experience, of which at least one year must be specialized. Specialized experience includes: demonstrated experience in editing documents, including technical documents. * Experience with organizational QMS ISO-9000 documentation requirements: quality policy, non-conformity identification, processing, resolution, etc is preferred * Must have a Bachelors degree in English or Journalism To apply and for immediate consideration, follow the link below to the RSIS Career Center and create a profile.
