TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST III



The Miami-Dade County Health Department is looking for energetic TEAM member to join us as a Telecommunications Specialist.  This position will  will report directly to the Director of Information Technology and will be responsible for the operational administration of the Miami-Dade County Health Department Telecommunications infrastructure. Incumbent will maintain the health department’s telecommunication hardware, including telephone systems; phone handsets, and various telecommunications components. Responsible for the technical administration and support of cellular technologies, including cell phones, Blackberry, radios, wireless cards and VPN. Monitors telecommunications systems, plans, analyses and researches and recommends data and voice products.
Responsible for the Telecommunications infrastructure of the Miami-Dade County Health Department.  This includes Nortel, Avaya, Vodavi and Intertel PBX & Key Systems.  Monitors, programs, configure and install telecommunications systems and periphers, including PBX and enterprise systems. Will work closely with Director of Information Technology to assess telecommunications needs and provide analysis of systematic problems. Identifies areas of networking and telecommunication infrastructure, which need upgrading and recommends solutions. Responsible for premise cabling project management.


The ideal candidate will have prior field level experience with the installation, use, configuration and management of Nortel and/or Avaya telephone systems (Key, PBX, Enterprise).



AA or Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science/MIS, Public Health, Health Services Administration, Business Administration - OR -5+ years of telecommunications management experience is required.
