Take your MySQL DBA Career to the next level

If you are ready for a change from the typical day-in/day-out drudgery of being a DBA for one company or set of servers, The Pythian Group is for you.  Our DBAs work in small teams of 3-5 DBAs, responsible for 5-10 customer environments. This means that you will never get bored or be forced to solve the same problems on the same systems, over and over.

We are currently hiring MySQL DBAs for our newly formed Boston office and to service our rapidly expanding MySQL client community. You should be a quick learner and ready to hit the ground running, managing database servers for everything from small start-ups to huge enterprises. At The Pythian Group, you will be able to see -- and do -- it all.  We currently have two teams of MySQL DBAs servicing about 25 clients, including industry leaders like IGN Entertainment, CBS, and Electronic Arts, and are signing new clients on a regular basis.  We are also interested in hiring for other locations - see the accompanying questionnaire for details.

Required:

· 2+ years of experience managing production MySQL instances

· Solid knowledge of database concepts and the ability to apply them to a wide variety of scenarios

· The willingness to dive in and research/debug tough problems, even under extreme pressure

· An intense desire to learn new technologies and techniques – and be the best

· Good communication and team skills; you will talk to customers on a regular basis

You should also have one or more of the following:

· Experience with MySQL high availability technologies

· Knowledge of MySQL performance tuning and/or hardware tuning

· Knowledge of MySQL client interfaces and data retrieval best practices
