Technical Services Specialist

My client is seeking a superior technically-oriented individual who thrives on challenge, enjoys travel, and wants to stretch outside the typical technical support niche.  This position will allow you to home office when not traveling in a nationwide basis performing the technical services required of this position. ResponsibilitiesOn-site software installation and upgrade services for applications as well as secondary components, such as Business Objects reporting software.  Informal customer technical staff training and knowledge transfer on software installation and upgrade.  Application technical administration training. Database management and support services (Oracle and MS SQL Server).  Hardware/software/network troubleshooting and tuning to ensure optimum functional performance.  Technical documentation development.Technical Skills Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS 6.0) proficiency: Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot n-tier applications running on an IIS platform.  Knowledge of relational database structure and Structured Query Language (SQL) queries. Effective troubleshooting techniques essential (previous product support experience a plus).  Knowledge of other Microsoft operating systems (installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.  Understanding of TCP/IP network communications and ability to identify and troubleshoot network communications difficulties. Knowledge of Business Objects Corp. suite of business intelligence reporting products, especially WebIntelligence Server.Ability to generate and review technical documentation including installation guides, white papers, and instructional materials. Ability to install, configure, and support Oracle and/or SQL Server databases. Ability to generate basic SQL scripts for direct query and update of Oracle and SQL Server relational databases a plus.Past programming experience or knowledge of VB or .ASP coding a plus. Non-Technical Skills Communications - Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, technical information to technical and non-technical audiences, dealing with a number of groups with different interests.
