Telecom Operations Specialist

This position is located in Pittsburgh, PA but will serve subsidiaries in other metropolitan areas



This position reports to the Vice President of IT

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Telecommunications Manager is responsible for Coordinating and performing the organization’s telecommunications moves, adds and changes Contract reviews and negotiations with telecommunications providers Acting as liaison between the telecommunication companies and all of the organization’s subsidiaries

 

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

1. Coordinate, review, and perform all moves, additions and changes required to provide for the organization’s telecommunications needs

2. Coordinate, review and perform telecommunications repair services as needed

3. Review, ascertain accuracy and recommend payment of invoices submitted by telecommunications service providers for services rendered

4. Oversee and coordinate all company-wide and subsidiary-specific telecommunications projects

5. Recommend improvements to enhance the technical capabilities of telecommunication systems and reduce operating costs company-wide and subsidiary-specific

6. Maintain a preventive maintenance program for all company owned telecommunications equipment and, once approved, oversee the execution of the maintenance program

7. Maintain a formal system to inventory and regularly evaluate all telecommunication systems, equipment and services

8. Develop and implement a systematic staff development program to develop and maintain the knowledge-base and skills required for telecommunications and IT personnel

9. Maintain records and prepare required reports relevant to the operations of telecommunications

10. Write technical specifications

11. Perform other duties as assigned

12. Be willing travel up to 50% of the time

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience in telecommunications

2. Experience in installing and maintaining computer networks

3. Experience with VOIP systems

5. Ability to work effectively with personnel on all levels and provide a high level of internal and external customer service

6. Ability to supervise personnel

7. Ability to deliver a high level of accuracy in information and services

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum 5 years general telecommunications experience

2. Minimum 5 years experience installing and maintaining computer networks

4. Minimum 3 years experience maintaining and implementing VOIP systems

5. Experience with predictive dialing systems

6. Experience managing Telecommunication practices in large scale Call Centers or heavy traffic environments
