Telecom Technician

Qualified candidate will be responsible for the support of the sites Data Center, Local, Long Distance facilities and area POP locations.  Responsibilities will include provisioning and commissioning telecommunication transmission systems and ancillary equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, equipment manufactured by Nortel, NEC, Fujitsu and Alcatel operating at transmission rates up to 9.6 Gb/s.  General responsibilities includes manufacturer equipment upgrades and re-alignment of affected units, perform final system tests associated to channels on new systems, test fiber optic transmission equipment for performance at the DS-1, DS-3 and SONET/SDH levels, test performance on optical transmitters and receivers, test performance of automatic protection switching at DS-3/STS-1 levels, provisioning and testing of remote fault alarm monitoring systems. Qualified candidate will have an Associates degree in electronics and 2-3 years of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Have strong customer service skills, willing to work any shift, able to climb ladders, and lift minimum of 50lbs.
