Training Specialist

I. Purpose of Position:

As part of a three-person team, to improve the work performance of Firm employees by (1) training employees on the Firm's current and planned information technology (2) discovering and addressing needs of employees relating to the Firm's information technology and (3) aligning technology solutions with the Firm's and the IS Department's organizational goals and business purpose.

II. Major Responsibilities:

End User Focus
Conduct new hire training via stand-up or web-based delivery for each of the Firm's offices and ensure timely follow-up with trainees in order to identify gaps and future performance improvement solutions. Develop, design and deliver training sessions/presentations for new technology initiatives. Coordinate and conduct just-in-time training when requested by end users. Customize classes for departments and individuals as requested. Become subject matter expert in specialized applications as needed.Training Team Focus
Conduct train-the-trainer/QA sessions with Training Team for new training offerings, adhering to Team guidelines for curriculum, content and documentation. Assist with the creation of in-house training documentation for the Firm, as well as modifying vendor provided material. Assist in the collection of all Firm-related training materials and ensure consistency and accuracy. Performance Improvement/Business Process Focus
Assist with the development and delivery of post-training performance improvement assessments to ensure effectiveness of training. Participate and help develop performance improvement/needs analysis of Firm's employees, practice areas, departments, etc., relating to information technology by partnering with groups both internal and external to IS. Provide assistance in identifying user requirements with regard to technology and which may result in future system development or training.IS Department Focus
Assist in IS projects and implementations, with a focus on being the end-user advocate within the Department. Assist with the quality assurance process for new technology as it pertains to impacting the end user community. Maintain currency with Firm information technology platforms and applications. Be informed of current trends in training, technology and how they pertain to the Firm. Work as Project Team Partner with Help Desk on IS initiatives. Assist with Level One Support when requested (~10% time).III. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Law firm experience preferred. Experience in course design, development and delivery. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written. Strong customer service and presentation skills. Desire to be part of support team. Solid knowledge and experience with Windows operating system and Office Suite.IV. Position Characteristics

The primary task of this position will be training new hires on Firm technology, as well as the design, development and delivery of training curriculum for Firm technology initiatives as they happen. As such, the person in this role must be extremely professional in order to set high expectations with Firm employees in terms of the Firm itself and the IS Department. The Training Specialist will also function as a Training Project Manager for those projects that the Firm does not undertake to train with its own resources.

In addition, this role is expected to expand into the area of performance and needs assessment on a Firm-wide basis. As such, the Specialist must be willing to build alliances with other departments and be seen as a business resource - adding value to the department in question and the Firm as a whole with regard to technology. Performance improvement and aligning with the Firm's business objectives, as well as the objectives of the IS Department, will be a focus. Total job ownership is critical in this semi-autonomous role.

As part of a support department for a large and demanding clientele of business professionals, the Training Specialist must be willing to re-prioritize on the go and be flexible to the needs of the moment. Teamwork is a must. Approximately 10% travel can be expected. This position reports to the IS Manager - Help Desk & Training and is non-exempt.
