Career Direction is seeking UNIX (Solaris/Linux) Engineers for a state of the art NOC.



We also work with openings for Developers, Software Engineers; Desktop, Trade and Market Data Support, and Technical Support / Help Desk Analysts for positions in the NY tri-state area.

Responsibilities:



A well established and rapidly growing company located in Nassau County has an opening for a Jr. Solaris Systems Administrator. The ideal candidate should possess more than 2 years previous system administration experience on multiple operating systems (Solaris and Linux are required).  Previous experience working in a dynamic production environment supporting a large customer base.  Previous experience working in a mid to large site/network. 



Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with some occasional overnight maintenance work (must be flexible).

Job Requirements:



Knowledge of system administration tools and processes.  Prior knowledge/experience with Internet applications (DNS, DHCP, System Security, System monitoring/management).  Knowledge of server technologies on various server platforms (Sun, HP, Dell,). 


Strong inter-personal and communication skills with co-workers and customers are required.  Ability to work independently on tasks of moderate complexity and assist server administrator with tasks of high complexity.  Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities based on workload.



Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or equivalent and work experience is preferred.  Technical certifications are highly recommended.
