UNIX Systems Administrator

As a UNIX Systems Administrator you will primarily be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and repair of UNIX systems hardware, operating systems and infrastructure management applications.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

· Perform operating system upgrades, capacity planning, and performance analysis as it relates to day-to-day operations.

· Perform problem determination and resolution.

· Provide support of storage and backup technologies.

· Maintain configuration compliance to avoid risks of system outages or compromised data.

· Automate operations tasks in order to reduce labor required to support systems.

· Document, develop and implement test plans to verify installation, upgrades or repairs, including back-out plans.

· Implement O/S patches as required.

· 5-7+ years experience as a UNIX Systems Administrator.

· In-depth knowledge of Sun Solaris, Redhat Linux Server Operating Systems. Knowledge of HP-UX a plus.

· In-depth knowledge of Veritas VxVM, Veritas Foundation Manager, Veritas backup technologies, high availability and/or clustering solutions. Knowledge of ocfs2 clusters a plus.

· Experience with EMC SANs.

· Must have a thorough understanding and experience in O/S security (rights, privileges, accounts), hardening (upgrades/patches) techniques, remote access/management techniques (SSH, remote console) and volume management.

· Experience with VMWARE servers desired.

· College Degree preferred.
