Position Summary
Responsible for implementation, maintenance and support for UNIX systems and SAN-attached storage running mission-critical Oracle applications and Apache web servers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Installs, configures, supports and optimizes corporate UNIX operating systems and applications.
2. Provides 2nd and 3rd tier support for corporate and campus systems and user applications and participates in on-call duties.
3. Supports and implements system standards, processes and security to comply with corporate IT standards.
4. Creates and maintains documentation as needed.
5. Organizes, prioritizes and manages individual workflow to resolve support issues and meets assigned project deadlines.
6. Maintains and communicates project plans and status updates.
7. Communicates with vendors to obtain system configurations, quotes and support.
8. Analyzes project needs/ requirements and recommends systems to enable enterprise integration of UNIX -based systems and applications.
9. Performs related duties as needed.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent industry experience.
Three or more years experience with Enterprise-level Sun hardware and Solaris version 2.8 and up. Experience automating system installs (Jumpstart) and standardized operating system images. Experience with software and hardware troubleshooting and system monitoring. Experience with Sendmail, DNS, Apache, Shell scripting and Solaris package manager. Experience with SAN attached storage and virtual volume managers (SDS and Veritas Volume Manager). Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, IPMP, AP and routing concepts required. Knowledge of Windows NT/2000/XP is helpful. Excellent communications skills with proven ability to communicate professionally in a corporate environment.
