User Interface Designer

thePlatform, a subsidiary of Comcast, is hiring a UI Designer.

thePlatform helps content providers, broadband media sites, and mobile businesses solve their unique media publishing requirements. Our products provide content providers, broadband media sites and mobile businesses the versatility to easily build a unique broadband video channel for any medium including their site, affiliate sites, mobile phones and even off-line playback from PCs.

As a UI Designer, you will develop an understanding of our users and their workflows, translating user needs into design solutions for our media management software. You will collaborate with product planning, program management, development, and test to create prototypes and designs, from the initial planning through implementation and release of software products.

There is a strong, collaborative relationship between design, program and project managers, developers, and QA engineers as partners in the delivery of quality services. Responsibilities

§  As a customer advocate within an agile development process, aid the Product Owner by translating user needs into design solutions for media-related products

§  Collaborate in the development of user personas, information architecture, and requirements

§  Work through phases of the software lifecycle, from understanding user needs, creating clear design goals, mocking up/prototyping design solutions, working with development to understand the impact of design choices, and providing final UI assets.

§  Help facilitate user-centered design process by working with marketing to obtain feedback from our user community

§  Create overall design guidelines

§  Participate in design reviews with internal and external stakeholders, including development, marketing and executive teams


Requirements

 

§  7- 10 years Experience in software user interface design and with full software life cycle

§  Knowledge of design techniques such as information architecture, storyboarding, wire-framing, design specifications and guidelines

§  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with technical disciplines as well as marketing and product planning

§  Exceptional creative, analytical, communication, and organizational skills

§  Experience with user interface prototyping in different tools, for example, Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, Flash, Flex, and HTML/XML.

§  Familiarity with web technologies such as Web 2.0, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, HTML and CSS

§  Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Information Design, Communications, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
