User Interface Designer

OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. is a nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing information costs. Tens of thousands of libraries around the world use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend and preserve library materials. We are currently seeking candidates for a User Interface Designer for our San Mateo, California office.

 

The person filling this job will: Provide innovative user-interface research, design, prototyping and evaluation for OCLC products. Collaborate with product managers and development staff, gather and interpret requirements, develop interface and workflow specifications. Collaborate with headquarters-based (Dublin, Ohio) OCLC Usability Lab. Collaborate with the OCLC Human-Computer Interaction Team A combination of experience and education equivalent to ten years of user interface research, design, prototyping, and evaluation experience (or academic/research experience) Excellent communication skills, particularly in advocating the value of applying HCI techniques Professional writing, statistical, and analytic skills Understanding of software development workflow and ability to work within a software development team.
