 IT Analyst 4

 

This position serves as the Telecommunications Consultant for the Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) and is responsible for mediating scheduling of the telecommunications videos for medical, educational, and administrative purposes.  DHH operates a private network consisting of T1 and Metro Ethernet connections used by MCU’s and Polycom cameras Statewide.

 Position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day support of DHH WAN based video conferencing solutions along with high-definition video enhancementsPosition will support both routine meeting room conferences and telemedicine programs being conducted between LSU and DHH jointly. Routine tasks will include software upgrades, conference setup, camera and MCU configuration, bridging, security and gatekeeper tasks, conference monitoring and debugging as well as assistance in long range planning of upgrades. 

 

Required Qualifications:Applicant should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or institution in Computer Sciences, Management Information Systems, Mathematics or a closely related IT field as well as outlined experience. 

Desired Qualifications:

· The ideal candidate must be Cisco certified to the CCNA level or have 18 months documented professional experience configuring Cisco routers.

· Proficiency in Windows XP/Vista, TCP/IP networking, basic switches and routers and preferably quality of service mechanisms used to enhance conference quality. 

· 5 to 10 years specialized experience in the design, maintenance and support of Polycom based Video-Conferencing solutions using H.323 or newer protocols running over a Wide Area Network.

Position offers both 4 and 5 day per week 40 hour work schedules along with benefits including retirement, health insurance and tax deferred compensation plans.  Primary work location will be 628 N. 4th Street in Baton Rouge, La. with some travel required. Final salary is commensurate with education and relevant experience.  Position is advertised pending funding approval and final exemption from current State hiring freeze.
