Voice/Data Communications Specialist

SAIC's Homeland Security Solutions Division, engaged in a large program providing enterprise IT systems engineering and assurance for a Federal Government customer is seeking a Voice/Data Communications Specialist. POSITION OVERVIEW: The selected candidate will provide oversight and middle management of multiple IT projects for upgrades, expansions and migrations on the nationwide data and voice networks of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This will include leading technical teams in performing site surveys, identifying cable plant requirements and cost estimates; developing voice, video and data communications plans, statements of work, project implementation plans and schedules; and ensuring projects are completed on-time and within budget. Will work closely with the customer and project managers through end of projects. Will provide status reports to management and will maintain day-to-day contact with site IT managers. The candidate will be required to propose technical solutions developed in conjunction with design engineers for specific voice and data networking issues, making both written and oral presentations to management in a business analysis, decision making format. CORE SKILLS and EXPERIENCE: Six (7) years of experience working in a voice and data networking environment. Should have experience with typical systems such as Local Area Networks, Paging Systems, Intercom Systems, Security/Intercom Systems, CATV Systems, IP Access Control Systems, CCTV Systems and Telephone Systems. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in leading and directing other personnel, being a strong team player and exhibiting excellent customer interface and coordination skills. Should have background and experience coordinating services with Telco’s and Cabling vendors. Candidates should have strong analytical skills to manage resolution of complex problems arising in the voice and data networking environment, and good interpersonal skills in dealing with multiple contractor and government organizations. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, Visio, Excel. US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Public Trust Suitability. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred and 7 years of related experience. 13 years of experience to include 7 years related will be considered in-lieu of 4 year degree.
