You will have the flexibility to approach and solve problems how you see fit and most appropriate to the task at hand.In this role you will be working to integrate and expand the functionality of selectively chosen open source projects that suit and expand our core set of enterprise web services. You will be responsible for developing additions to select applications in PHP, utilizing a mixture of Javascript, CSS, and XHTML/HTML. You must be able to develop prototypes quickly and with minimal supervision. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred. Six or more years of experience in software engineering orweb development. 3-5 years experience working as a web developer/software engineer designing scalable architectures for high-traffic websites, writing applications in PHP or Java, and/or working on an equivalent open source project. Solid understanding of the HTTP protocol. Experience working in Linux, Solaris, BSD or another UNIX-like environment. Excellent problem solving skills profiling code changes and minimizing newly introduced latency. Knowledge of SQL and query optimization, MySQL a plus. A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive. Results and quality driven, ability to perform in a dynamic environment. Apache, Squid, Red Hat Linux knowledge a plus. Experience building AJAX applications a plus.
