Web / Database Developer

FGI currently has an opening for a Web / Database Developer to work in our Chapel Hill NC office.

Essential Functions:
-Develops, modifies and maintains web applications for research and survey use.
-Designs/codes applications following specifications using the appropriate tools.

-Performs maintenance programming for existing versions and custom programming as needed.

-Participates in the design, coding and maintenance of all web sites and other electronic publications and applications.
-Works with staff on style and approach for all projects.
-Participates in efforts to improve quality of web sites and other electronic publications as required.
-Designs, develops and maintains databases.

-Monitors and maintains web servers with Apache Tomcat.

 

Education, Experience and Skills Required:
-BA/BS degree in computer science or related field.
-3+ years database experience including database development, coding and maintenance; preferably using SQL Server.
-3+ years experience in Java including J2EE, Java Servlets and JSP’s.
-3+ years experience in web development in a Java environment; web development skills that include experience with JavaScript.
-Additional skills in XML and application design required.

-Experience dealing with data in the research industry preferred.
-Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitask, team environment.
