Web Operations Analyst / Applications Operations Engineer

Ticketmaster is looking for an Analyst / Engineer to join the Web / Applications Operations team.  This role provides an amazing opportunity to get a birds-eye view of a highly dynamic, large-scale web enterprise. This role offers exposure to multiple web technologies including LAMP, IIS/.NET, JBoss, Oracle, and MySQL. The teams in Web Operations work with a variety of operating systems, primarily Linux, as well as some Windows and some proprietary systems. If you are ambitious, driven and you aspire to be in a Systems Administrator, DBA or Developer role for a large-scale web enterprise, this is a terrific opportunity for you.   General DescriptionTicketmaster produces a variety of software for marketing and selling tickets. These applications are typically large and complex, and require significant support to maintain (over and above the hardware and operating system).   That's where we come in:  Web Operations is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the software Ticketmaster builds. We configure the software, troubleshoot, identify bugs, define how the software should be monitored, and report to the business what the software is doing at any given time.  Job Functions:*Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of Ticketmaster’s proprietary applications.*Coordinate and execute the configuration, deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of each application’s components.*Manage configuration and change control for the production environment.*Provide technical assistance to other business units for all issues pertaining to the production environment.*Assist QA and Development in detecting software defects and isolating them in source code.*Develop and maintain programs to automate or simplify diagnostic, monitoring, and reporting tasks.*Develop and automate data mining techniques for Ticketmaster's extensive data stores.*Provide incident reporting and statistical analysis to management. Requirements*A sense of humor!!!*Strong communication skills!!!*A strong passion for technology*Hands-on experience building, configuring and using open source operating systems professionally or otherwise.*Ability to think logically and analyze application and business process requirements.*Adaptable, self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision. *Experience from two or more of the following areas:**Demonstrated ability with at least one programming language (Perl, C, C++ or Shell scripting)**Experience with Linux and Windows system administration.**Experience with relational databases (MySQL or Oracle).**Experience with web servers (Apache, IIS, TomCat, JBoss)**Experience with mail server software and ISP deliverability.**Experience building and installing software in a Linux environment. Competitive compensation and benefits package offered.
