Web Systems Administrator II

About TU-CGIS: The Towson University Center for Geographic Information Sciences (TU-CGIS), a provider of superior GIS services in the Mid-Atlantic area is seeking a Web Systems Administrator II for an exciting new opportunity.  TU-CGIS is a self-supporting organization of motivated professionals who work as a team to equip government, private industry, and non-profits with GIS expertise, services, and products.

 

Responsibilities: Install, test and support complex custom developed Web applications and their dependencies, particularly the Emergency Management Mapping Application (EMMA), at client sites; provide off-hours client support; coordinate the off-hours support schedule; and provide backup at the CGIS office in absence of key IT system personnel. This position may require in- and out-of-state travel.

Required: Bachelor’s Degree; two years of IT experience in systems administration and Web applications and Web server support (an advanced degree in the field of IT may be substituted for experience); Expert knowledge of IIS and MS Windows Server 2003 operating systems installations, configurations and troubleshooting; Understanding of Java technologies and Apache Tomcat, the OSI model and familiarity with ESRI products a plus.  A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
