Windows OS Engineering Generalist

Job Description:

The Windows OS Engineering Generalist supports the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Enterprise Systems Management (ESM) Group.  This position requires expert Microsoft Windows engineering and trouble-shooting skills within a complex enterprise environment. Candidate should be comfortable working on Unix systems and the IBM Tivoli platform, and will be expected to bring enterprise management experience and perspective to the organization.  This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to grow their skill set.  Position requires strong research and analysis skills, excellent work ethic, and professional initiative.  Knowledge of ESM Frameworks, such as IBM Tivoli, and associated architectural elements is preferred.  Demonstrated experience with enterprise operating system management applications such as Windows Server Update Services, Microsoft Operations Manager, SCOM, OpsWare, or other similar applications within a distributed environment of at least 10,000 workstations and/or servers is required. Fluency in batch scripting, Unix shell, or other programming language preferred – desire to learn is required.

 

 



Specific Requirements:

5-10 years experience as a Windows Engineer within a large, multi-platform, complex Enterprise. Experience with enterprise operating systems management tools.

Fluency with at least one programming language.

Desired Skills:

Experience with Enterprise Systems Management Frameworks.

Experience with WSUS, MOM, SCOM, OpsWare

 

Must be U.S. Citizen and Must be able to pass a full background investigation with Department of Homeland Security.

 



Education and/or Certification:

Bachelor’s degree and 1 year or 5 years experience in enterprise-scale deployment and management of Windows technologies. Windows/UNIX/TIVOLI certification a plus.
