Windows Operate / Application Support

Modis is one of the world’s largest providers of information technology staffing services and solutions.  Currently we have more than 6,000 information technology professionals on assignment worldwide.  We serve more than 1,500 clients throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.Windows Operate - Server infrastructure supporting Production, Disaster Recovery, Development and Test environments  2nd and 3rd level support for the Mid-Tier Application Layer components and tools. Responsibilities include physical architecture, systems monitoring and performance tuning, patch and enhancement deployments, configuration of new devices, and daily trouble shooting of Mid-Tier components and processes. Ongoing duties involve the support of mid-tier application server software environment mostly running on Windows.  Responsibilities   Provide 24x7 2nd level application support - first to react to monitor event. Administration and Monitoring of Middleware applications components for all environments. Assures problem calls are tracked, routed properly and closed. Code deployments to production, pre-production systems Monitoring and ensuring stability of all the systems to meet or exceed SLA of 99.90% Troubleshoot and resolve issues by engaging various operate teams and application development teams to facilitate quick resolution Ability to follow established processes and guidelines for Change Management, Release Management, Problem and Incident management. Manage Disaster Recovery environments and DR testing Document production and DR systems on a regular basis Follow appropriate change management procedures to manage and document changes to production systems Responsibilities include systems state and performance monitoring, tuning, patch migration and enhancement deployments, production code deployments, system and server restarts, and daily trouble shooting of Mid-Tier components. Some after hours and weekend work is required to minimize downtime for users. 24/7 on-call rotation of one week per month. Configuration of new hardware added to all environments. Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) responsibilities for all mid-tier application components in the Production environment. Ability to work in a team environment.  Required experience:   5 – 7 years of industry experience with 2+ years experience performance tuning both Windows Server Operating Systems and Application components Develop and document systems architecture and computing infrastructure. Played a key role in the design of the in-house & 3rd party development, high available architecture and disaster recovery strategies Participated in development efforts to provide insight to developers on operational requirements of systems being built. Capable of working with other groups to install in-house developed and vendor provided software and integrate software on various Operating systems. A strong background in application infrastructure: Networking concepts, Server and Application Clustering, Database connectivity, and designing the physical application architecture.
