Wireless Network - Specialist 391727
Provides support of technical analysis for Cisco wireless 802.11x network systems, Cisco LAN/WAN communications, Cisco network nodes, Cisco switches, and data communications network equipment. Will work with vendors on the installation, modification, testing, and documentation of all wireless initiatives and coordinate vendor demonstrations for new wireless technology.Assists in the recommendation for improvements, development of technical standards/modification, manages the implementation and maintenance of a large scale enterprise wireless network and participates in various IT projects intended to continually improve and upgrade the wireless network. Researches new Mobile Device technology, coordinates and reviews wireless impacts to WAN bandwidth and recommends appropriate changes as required.Reports directly the Network Manager. Candidate must manage resources/assets necessary for availability and performance of Wireless systems and services, ensuring quality and responsiveness to client needs. Performs configuration, implementation of wireless access points, network management systems and wireless security protocols such as LEAP/PEAP/WPA/AES. Coordinates with IT Site Directors at various locations to performs IDF and network infrastructure upgrades. Assists Network Operations in maintaining/troubleshooting wireless issues and coordinates the resolution of connectivity issues related to wireless implementations. Coordinates and reviews WAN bandwidth during pilot phases and recommend appropriate changes as requiredThis position requires approximately 25% travel to various sites and assists local IT staff as needed.Required Skills:5 Years Experience supporting Cisco 802.11x Wireless Networking in Enterprise Environment.2 Years Experience Designing and implementing Cisco Wireless Networking in Enterprise EnvironmentPrevious experience with delivering clients/customer presentationsMental Characteristics: Must be able to exercise appropriate judgment when assessing the needs of the client and determine the resolution best suited for the situation. Able to work in an office environment, on field assignments and occasionally drive to other locations and work evenings or weekends for special situations.Desired Skills:Previous experience designing, supporting and implementing Cisco Data, VPN, Firewall, Native Cisco IOS, Hybrid Cisco switch IOS, VOIP, Wireless LEAP, PEAP. Extensive knowledge of the TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
