General Cable (NYSE: BGC), headquartered in Highland Heights, Kentucky, is a leader in the development, design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of copper, aluminum and fiber optic wire and cable products for the communications, energy, industrial and specialty markets.  The Company offers competitive strengths in such areas as breadth of product line, brand recognition, distribution and logistics, service and operating efficiency.  Communications wire and cable products transmit low-voltage signals for voice, data, video and control applications.  Energy cables include low-, medium- and high-voltage power distribution and power transmission products.  The Industrial and Specialty segment is comprised of application-specific cables for uses such as electrical power generation (traditional fuels, alternative and renewable sources, and distributed generation), the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, mining, industrial automation, marine, military and aerospace applications, power applications in the telecommunications industry, and other key industrial segments. This position operates and monitors computer and network equipment and provides production support to end-users. Initiates operating processes and observes peripheral equipment for error messages displayed on monitor or terminal to detect faulty output or machine stoppage and reports to Systems or LAN/WAN departments for timely resolution.  Loads peripheral equipment such as tape drives and printers with magnetic tapes and paper for backups/restores and printing to ensure timely data backups and report generation for the IT department and internal business units (AR, AP, Accounting, Sales, etc)Performs routine tasks by using cleaning tapes and supplies to maintain and keep computer equipment and their peripherals at optimal performance for the IT department.  Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems for associates by reviewing job logs, manuals or via the Internet.Receives and responds to inbound telephone calls, email, help desk tickets, and personnel requests for technical support associates.  Document new IT operational procedures or update-outdated procedures assigned to the IT Operations department using Microsoft Office products such as Word and/or Excel.Monitor network operations and open tickets to resolve outages.  Other duties may be assigned as directed by management.  Job Title: iSeries Operator- Part Time Weekends Location: Highland Heights, KY 41076 Job Category: IT/Software Development Status: Part Time, Employee Career Level: Entry Level logET();PauseFooter(false);
