Senior Software Engineer - Java/J2EEJob Summary:Participate in architecture, design at both a high and low level, implementation, unit testing, module level testing, defect verification, and integration testing.  Individual will be required to verify defects from internal/external sources, as well as diagnostics and fixing of same related to the product, may require research and analysis. Individual will be required to assist in performing on-site client work.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Research Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.  Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.  Development Performs design, implementation and maintenance of single product modules/sub-systems or on lower level issues of multiple products. Performs systems analysis, product design, and programming activities for a complex J2EE product. Ensures standards compliance, inline code documentation, use of tools etc.  Testing, Verification and Defect Analysis Conducts unit testing, module level testing and integration testing for functionality limits, interfaces with QA to ensure that the QA plans are functionally complete. Perform root cause analysis as it applies to defect verification, and fixes, release testing and beta support for assigned customers.  Defects/issues can come from product support, QA or customers. May assist in performing on-site client work on moderately complex applications.Additional Responsibilities:· Organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks/assignments/projects.· Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Mentor others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:Experience/Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in ECE or CS, an MCA as a PG option is preferred. Relevant work experience in the areas of technology should include at least one large complex product or application release life cycle. Five to seven (5-7) years of software development experience in specific technologies (e.g. Java, J2EE, exposure to leading application servers like Weblogic, Websphere and/or JBoss, Oracle 9i/10g, SQL Server (current versions, and other leading RDBM’s). Understanding of the Windows or Unix OS from a development standpoint. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:· Good technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation as it applies to building complex J2EE based products/applications, i.e. understand the MVC paradigm, understand design patterns, and understand tradeoffs from a data layer perspective.· Well versed with SDE, and other PDLC tools, including CM.· Good analytical and design skills at multiple product level. · Good skills in research and analysis, · Good skills in project planning including task estimation and implementation.· Good understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.· Awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans.· Good communications and interpersonal skills.· Ability to mentor and focus junior team members on specific tasks and measure them in terms of productivity.· Ability to perform duties under general supervision. Candidate must be able to pass criminal and credit background check. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we are committed to a diverse workforce.This job description is intended as a summary of the primary responsibilities of and qualifications for this position.
