ALGOL Programmer Analyst ( Unisys mainframe )
MUST HAVE experience coding in Algol.
8 years of IT experience, 4 of which must be Unisys mainframe / COBOL programming experience
4 years experience with Cande, COMS and / or Gemcos.
4 years experience in the design and development of Unisys DMS II database structures.
4 years experience is writing mainframe program specifications
2 years in the design and development of use cases.
We are seeking an independent team consisting of one project manager and two COBOL programmers who, after a methodical knowledge transfer process, can work as the primary maintenance team for our existing mainframe systems with a minimum interaction with Client’s staff. This team would be responsible for receiving maintenance requests, evaluating, analyzing, scheduling, coding, testing and deploying according to established agency procedures. Detailed metrics will be designed and developed to confirm the requested work is done and within the desired timeframe.
The team, once an accelerated knowledge transfer is complete, will be expected to independently support the mainframe system including the monitoring of production performance, coding of all programmatic changes and troubleshooting of any production issues. They will also serve as the first point of contact for all users of the mainframe data.
The mainframe applications execute on a Unisys A Series system and are written in COBOL 68, COBOL 74, DMALGOL, DCALGOL and ALGOL. System software consists of MCP, GEMCOS, COMS and third party software interfaces to other systems. The mainframe database uses Unisys DMS II.
The programmer will be responsible for: The review of all change request / enhancements.The analysis of existing code.The coding, testing and debugging of all changes per established procedures and using standardized “best practices”. The strict adherence to the current deployment policies and procedures. The documentation of all changes per established agency guidelines.The timely completion of programming assignments.
