Position Summary

The successful candidate is responsible for the following primary areas:Developing communication interfaces to various robots including protocol design, development and verificationAssisting in creating and modifying laboratory development setups, including robots, cameras, lighting units, communication links, etc.)Assisting in setting up and executing experiments to test the efficacy of various product features, capabilities, and applications.Assisting in evaluating various types of machine vision hardware such as cameras and lighting for various applications.Assisting with and attending tradeshows or customer presentation, training or demonstration events

 

Must Have
3-5+ years as Software Application Engineer/Integration EngineerProven skills in C / C++Expertise with Microsoft Visual Studio and the .NET platformExcellent knowledge of OO programmingPractical development experience with standard communication protocols (especially TCP/IP)Outstanding oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skillsAble to demonstrate high level of follow through, organization and adherence to tight deadlinesAbility to plan and execute tasks to achieve goals set by managementAbility to leverage business and technical knowledge to understand customer’s applications and propose and execute solutions Open minded and positive

 

Would Be an Asset
Development experience with industrial field buses specifically DeviceNet, CAN, ProfiBus or similarDevelopment experience interfacing PC-based applications with industrial robots or PLC’s using standard or proprietary protocolsExperience developing drivers for PC peripheralsExperience or knowledge of robot coordinate systems and coordinate transformations**U.S. Citizenship (to facilitate clearance needed to view U.S. government project information)

Education

 

Minimum requirement is an engineering degree (B.A.Sc.) in Computer, Electrical, Systems Design Engineering or similar discipline.
