Assistant Systems Administrator

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College Consortium with Amherst, Smith, and Mount Holyoke Colleges and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, invites applications for an Assistant Systems Administrator.

 

Responsibilities include configuring, installing, and managing the college’s Windows servers, supporting academic and administrative systems, and providing technical support to faculty, staff, and students.  The college operates several systems in a Windows Server 2003+ environment, although the campus computing environment is mainly Linux or Unix. The Assistant Systems Administrator will work with other IT staff to manage access, security, operations and configuration of Windows servers for third-party systems. Will also work with third party vendors to coordinate database applications and to manage data exchange between various servers.

 

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience, with emphasis in Windows servers. Three to five years of Windows system administration experience required, with knowledge of Unix and/or Linux highly desirable.  Knowledge of and experience with SQL preferred.
