Automation / Performance Engineer

Parature’s Quality Assurance Department is seeking a highly skilled developer to work on the automation and performance team at our corporate headquarters in Vienna VA. We are a Software as a Service (SaaS), pure-hosted software company, with a deep commitment to our customers, and one of the highest customer and employee retention rates in the industry. Parature is looking for a skilled developer to operate on two fronts within our Quality Assurance organization. The first front is to participate in automation testing. Working with the Automation test lead to indentify and automate key portions of our testing effort use Mercury (HP) Quick Test Pro (QTP) and Visual Basic. Working with other team members to help build functions that can be used by other test engineers to better the stability or our automation suite. This requires a strong understanding of Visual Basic.

The second front is to spearhead the performance testing project. The right person will work with the development team, and lead architect, to identify portions of the application that will be changing from release to release, work identify performance related concerns, and script a set of tests and model data to exercise the code. After execution of the tests, provide the development team with meaningful results that allow then to tune the system to meet the demands of our customers. The right person for this job will have strong Scripting experience, excellent communication and documentation skills, and willing to be flexible and creative.

Must have skills:
Proven programming skills in VB, Scripting experience Good understanding of regular expressions Knowledge of SQL to do basic database queries/updates Knowledge of network protocol details (RFC level): HTTP, HTML form encoding Knowledge of network architecture basics Basic System Administration Data manipulation/presentation using Excel and/or other tools Knowledge of general testing principles (smoke, regression, boundary, performance, functional, etc.) Ability to create/review comprehensive test artifacts (test plans, test cases, bug reports, etc.) Able to develop Automated testing frameworks Strong communication skills (oral and written) Able to work in team environments Self motivated and capable of enhancing/developing an automated QC regression process/framework with minimal direction Good team player, good interpersonal skills and ability to translate testing issues to management.

Additional Skills a Plus:
Automation testing experience using QTP PERL or other scripting language Knowledge of TCP
