BMC Software Engineer w/ACTIVE TS/SCI
POSITION DESCRIPTION – Essential Job Functions:
Serves as a Senior Software Engineer in support of the Asset and Configuration Management (ACM) Make Gold Copy Project. Responsible for the installation/upgrade of Remedy ARS v6.3 to v7.0 and Atrium CMDB v1.1 to v2.0, application configuration as needed to support applicable project tasks, ingest of spreadsheet data (MEAS, PCA, O&S) received from Configuration Management and other IT/IS Organizations, Identification, Discovery activities of IT assets on accepted spreadsheet, Compare and Merge activities in CMDB, detailed documentation (artifacts) for project tasks and possible System Architecture Guide (SAG) update/incorporation.
Duties and qualifications, identifying both essential and marginal duties:
The ideal candidate must be an effective communicator, self starter, and possess solid data/business modeling and systems engineer skills, and an understanding of the customer’s environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. A background in Information Technology is required. Duties include the following:
• Install and configure BMC Remedy applications
• Design, develop, and implement integrations with BMC Remedy applications & discovery tools
• Analyze and modify custom code and scripts as required to upgrade BMC Atrium CMDB version 1.1 to version 2.0
• Analyze and modify custom code and scripts as required to upgrade BMC Remedy ARS version 6.3 to version 7.0
• Troubleshoot and support BMC Remedy based applications and systems
• Draft technical installation, configuration and customization specification documents
• Analyze requirements; study system capabilities; create system design; implement solutions
• Conduct requirements and informational gathering activities
• Communicate strategies and best practices for product implementation
• Participate in Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) and Board Reviews
• Local travel is required
Physical Requirements:
Visual acuity to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
Education, Skill, and Experience Requirements:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 6 years experience or 8 years experience. Candidate must possess strong customer service and team skills, proven customer interaction and customer support experience. Qualified applicants must have hands-on experience with the design, development, implementation, configuration management, and maintenance of client/server applications in an operational environment. Extensive knowledge of Windows and Unix environments, DB, SQL, SQL Scripting, HTML, Coldfusion, .Net, JSP, Java, and Java Servlets. Knowledge of IT concepts such as TCP/IP, ATM, LAN/WAN networking. Knowledge of IT security concepts. Strong written/verbal communications skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills; be able to handle multiple tasking. The candidate must be able to work in a matrixed organizational structure. Additionally, must be familiar with NGA's programs, facilities, operational environment, and organizational structure. Must have technical experience in order to effectively speak to technical and design issues where required. Technical experience should include software development, maintenance, and sustainment is required. Knowledge of BMC Applications, specifically with BMC Atrium CMDB 2.0 and BMC Remedy ARS 7.0, is a huge plus.
