The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic team, using the agile software development approach to apply your software engineering skill to helping the advancement of innovative scientific research. The ideal candidate should be a highly self-motivated team player and highly energetic in learning new technologies and tools. This person will: Work with scientists to define their needs through rapid prototyping; Implement the systems through interactive iterations; Evolve the systems through continuous enhancements; Apply the best practice of software engineering to the daily work including proper code standard, proper testing, and proper release procedures; Perform routine support and bug-fixing of existing applications; Apply the web-enabling technologies to solve real, challenging practical problems emerging from the scientific research process.QualificationsQualifications:" BS or MS degree (or equivalent) in computer science or equivalent discipline required; Knowledge/experience in molecular biology will be a plus;" Experience developing software with .NET technology required;" Web development experience (one or more platforms such as ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript, Wiki, sematic wiki) required;" Working knowledge of SQL and relational database required;" 1-3 years of post-degree industry experience preferred, new graduates can be considered as well;" Any experience in bioinformatics applications will be a plus;" Good understanding and practical experience in fundamentals of software engineering;" Willing to learn new technologies and tools to solve real problems;" Must be self-motivated, action-oriented, team player with strong communication and organizational skills Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research is an equal opportunity employer committed to embracing and leveraging diverse backgrounds.
