Business Analyst / Data Analyst - Contract to Hire

Our client located in Grapevine, TX is looking for a Business / Data Analyst.Must have an excellent background in Excel and SQL.  This is a contract to hire position.  Please reply with the hourly rate (1099) and salary you desire.

Role Description

Business/Data Analyst

-  Conduct Data Analysis on raw and processed data for new product / service and interface development

-  Document research and analysis

- Excellent Skills in Excel

- Excel, pivot tables, Charting and PowerPoint should be added to this first part. These will evolve to needing SQL queries and SQL reporting services.

-  Contribute to writing product requirements and release notes

-  Work with Quality Assurance on high level test strategy

-  Craft Data Research communications to all relevant internal parties

-  Act as data expert internally

-  Create / implement improved methods of extracting and querying data

-  Track quality/success of data research against defined requirements

-  Support the team through other tasks such as conducting meetings, collecting data, and preparing research materials, summaries and reports for the team.

-  Conduct requirements gathering and create project documentation (Requirements, Use Cases, Process Workflows) for new products and product enhancements. 

-  Work closely with the business and IT functional groups to communicate and clarify business needs and contribute to development of long-range plans. 

-  Liaise with technical counterparts (engineering, QA, infrastructure) to ensure correct technical and functional flow/design.

-  Provide functional guidance to engineers to resolve issues. 

-  Assist with management of projects (maintain issues lists, track progress, adhere to change control, status reporting). 

-  Develop business case scenarios and models. These business case scenarios and models will be used to quantify the financial opportunity, as well as evaluate the business, technical, and systems feasibility, of recommended improvement.

-  Analyze business problems using root cause analysis, hypothesis generation, survey design, benchmarking, and other qualitative and quantitative methods.

 

This position will report directly to senior management, and primary responsibilities will involve generation of standard and ad hoc “real time” reports that meet a variety of corporate and customer requirements, including any needed programming for these reports. 


This individual will examine and evaluate the purpose and content of business reports, and will develop new or improved formats, uses, and controls.  In addition, this individual will review reports to determine basic characteristics, such as origin and report flow, format, frequency, distribution and purpose/function.  The successful candidate will use critical thinking and business knowledge to confer with persons originating, handling, processing, or receiving reports to improve user ability and identify business opportunities. Additionally, this individual will evaluate findings using knowledge of workflows operating practices, record retention schedules, and office equipment layout to identify actionable information and the establishment of new or modified reporting methods and procedures to improve report content.  The Business/Data Analyst will play a critical role in improving quality of date by implementing formal and informal quality controls.
