NAVTEQ is the leading provider of digital map data for Vehicle Navigation, Internet & Wireless applications and Business Solutions. Cutting edge applications such as these are part of a growing set of applications that enhance consumer's access to information while they are mobile. We have coined the term informed mobility' to represent this emerging need.  NAVTEQ data is used in virtually all of the leading navigation systems in both North America and Europe. Our customers rely on NAVTEQ digital map information for use in their applications based on its accuracy, detail and completeness.  We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager – 7624 (for Connected Services - Global Traffic) in Chicago, IL. Position Summary: The primary role of this position is developing partnerships for new sources of highly dynamic geospatial content (e.g., traffic and weather information referenced to the digital map), access to technologies for the creation of this type of content and new distribution channels for NAVTEQ's geospatial content as well as contributing to the continuing refinement of its connected services strategy. Responsibilities:   Identify potential sources of new dynamic content, potential technology partners and potential partners for new channels of distribution to execute NAVTEQ's connected services strategy. Develop relationships with these potential partners and initiate dialog about business models for partnership. Formulate detailed business models and business cases for the integration of data sources and the development of new channels of distribution.  Create clearly articulated arguments that support these partnerships, including financial analyses that form the basis of the business cases. Translate these business cases into partnership terms and negotiate required partnership agreements. Bring these partnerships to completion with signed contracts, following a legal process. Provide recommendations for the evolution of NAVTEQ's connected services strategy and articulate the implications of these recommendations for the group's partnership strategy, including potential corporate development activity. Requirements:  At least one of the following: (a) Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred from a top 10 school (b) 3 years of experience at a top-tier management consulting or investment banking firm, preferably focusing on technology, (c) 2 years of business development experience at a technology or other high-growth business, (d) 2 years of experience as an entrepreneur of a technology or other high-growth business.  Some combination of these makes for an even stronger candidate. Demonstrated ability to think through complex problems with creativity as well as synthesize solutions to such problems with thoughtful analysis (both quantitative and qualitative). History of working directly with customers and/or partners and engaging in productive dialog leading to sales or working partnerships. Demonstrated ability to recognize emerging market forces and competitor strategies, understand their implications, and develop strategies that maintain market leadership.
