Cognos developer will be working with Cognos architect and business users to develop complex reports and cubes.  Responsibilities will include development and customization of Cognos reports, cubes, and decision support applications using Cognos Series 8 business intelligence tools.  Assist with analysis of reports and determining best fit within existing systems. Be involved in migrating reports developed using other tools into Cognos 8 as part of an overall report streamlining strategy.

· Translate business questions and requirements into reports and BI query objects

· Develop multidimensional semantic layer and BI query objects for end users

· Design and implement basic, intermediate and complex reports and provide subject matter expertise and training

· Develop OLAP/cubes for functional analysis and advanced slicing capabilities

· Troubleshoot Cognos problems and tunes for performance REQUIRED SKILLS

· Minimum of 4 years of total software design and development experience.

· Minimum of 4 years of report development

· Minimum of 2 years of Cognos and Cognos 8

· Minimum of 4 years of Oracle (or any RDBMS)

· Knowledge of Cognos architectures, functions, and features

· Have participated in at least 1 enterprise implementation of Cognos 8

· Expert in Studios and Cognos Connection

· Strong understanding of  UNIX, Oracle and SQL (relational and multidimensional designs)

· Must have good analytical, conceptual and root cause analysis skills

· Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing with internal and external customersDESIRED SKILLS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent

· Experience with Data Warehousing and Data Marts
