GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This MS SQL SERVER DEVELOPER is a member of the FTI Consulting Technology group. As a vital resource within the Custom Development Team, this individual will provide expertise in the development and delivery of database solutions for clients. Systems contain terabytes worth of data across many servers and databases, with tables over 100 million rows.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

§ Design and implement database schema

§ Develop SQL queries, stored procedures and functions

§ Develop ad-hoc and/or standard reports

§ Use troubleshooting skills to isolate, diagnose and resolve database problems

§ Determine root cause of database performance bottlenecks

§ Serve as a technical backup for other team members

§ Assist with routine database management tasks in development environment

§ Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, likely 2-3 days every 2 months

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

§ Understanding of relational database concepts

§ Strong working knowledge of T-SQL

§ Ability performance tune poorly running T-SQL

§ Attention to details

§ Ability to work on a team

§ Solid written and verbal communication skills

§ Work under tight deadlines while handling multiple tasks

§ Understand the SDLC and project management

§ Proficiency with MS Office applications

§ Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

§ Bachelor’s Degree required

§ 3+ years experience with OLTP systems

§ 1+ years experience with data warehousing or reporting systems

§ 3+ years of relevant experience with MS SQL Server 2000/2005

§ 3+ years experience designing and writing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures and functions

§ Experience using source code version control systems like MS VSS, PVCS and MKS

§ Possession of sufficient credit to facilitate travel if and when required
