Job Description of Copy Editor:

Wireless Generation seeks a copy editor who speaks the language of educators and feels comfortable with Web 2.0 ideas and technology. The primary responsibility of this position is copy editing educational activities for a wiki devoted to early literacy. The ideal candidate navigates the complexities of the English language to produce simple, clear prose; thrives in a rapidly growing, diverse environment; has 1 to 2 years of professional experience; and enjoys tackling multiple projects with aggressive deadlines.
This is a part-time contract position.

Responsibilities of Copy Editor:


Editing and formatting wiki pages to promote clarity, accuracy, and Wireless Generation style.
Discussing inconsistencies and questionable grammar with authors, other copy editors, and project managers.
Revising wiki contributions while preserving each contributor’s voice and objectives.


Requirements of Copy Editor:


Mastery of English grammar and punctuation.
Demonstrated copy editing skills (test is administered).
Experience with MediaWiki a must; other computer experience a plus.
Meticulous attention to detail, commitment to producing quality product, conscious of tight deadlines.
Ability to multitask and maintain multiple similar projects.
Four-year degree with concentration in English or Journalism; experience in Education a plus.
