Database Administrator - PostgreSQL




Due to growth, our client, an established and dynamic software development company located near Parker, CO is in need of a Database Adminstrator to DBA group. This position is responsible for the design, development, and production support of several large-scale databases.  A primary focus of this role will be to provide software development support in regards to logical design, schema management, and query, trigger, and stored procedure implementation.  Other primary responsibilities will include assisting with the maintenance, configuration and optimization of production databases on a Linux platform. 




Skills and Experience Required:5+ years in a DBA role experienced with a leading relational database (i.e. PostgreSQL, Oracle, Informix, DB2, MySQL).5+ years of logical and physical database design experience.5+ years of schema and data dictionary management/maintenance responsibility.5+ years of database production optimization via database configuration, query tuning, normalization, indexing, table partitioning, persistent connections, and/or other means. 5+ years working with and supporting software system and application development personnel.  3+ years of experience with data replication strategies, techniques, and implementation of such solutions.5+ years working on a Unix or Linux platform.  Advanced level SQL, trigger, and stored procedure skills.  Familiarity with web client-server architectures.  Adaptive to a rapidly changing environment and works creatively with minimal supervision.Excellent time management skills in handling multiple priorities with individual deadlines.Must work well in both a team environment as well as a sole contributor.Good written and oral communication skills.

 

Desired Skills, Experience, and Qualities:2+ years professional experience with C and PHP.5+ years professional experience with PERL and Unix shell scripts.  Familiarity with Apache web servers.  Familiarity with firewalls, load-balancers, and/or other network related devices.Familiarity with SAN and RAID physical architectures and implementations.  Redhat ES4.0 or higher system administration experience a plus.Experience and/or familiarity with PostgreSQL 8.0 or higher.Thrives in an environment that provides an opportunity to influence design, direction, processes/procedures/standards, and over-all success of the department and company.  Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.
