Data Analyst Programmer
The Division of Immigration Health Services (DIHS) and its staffing partner, STG International, Inc. invite you to become part of a unique team that is protecting America’s borders by providing an arrange of health care services for undocumented migrants detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
We are currently in search of a Data Analyst/Programmer for our Washington, DC location:
Purpose: The Data Analyst will provide support for design and development of DIHS programs, databases, analytical reports, reporting and related procedures. This is a software applications and technical support position that includes data entry, database development (set-up and programming), conversion, implementation, documentation, coordination, reporting, and data systems assessment.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the development and implementation of databases, computer software programs and related procedures to support the data analysis and statistical services in DIHS/ Analysis & Response Unit (ARU)
2. Analyze, design, develop, and implement software programs as well as system documentation according to specifications and standards.
3.Apply programming techniques to create, test and maintain computer programs to meet the data and reporting needs of DIHS/ARU and other program areas.
4. Assist with the archiving of DIHS/ARU data to existing repository platform or data warehouse or other specified data storage areas.
5. Test and implement application software (e.g., Excel, Access, SQL, Oracle) with regards to collecting, processing, accumulating, and storing data.
6. Collect, edit, and verify data; and document data entry and related procedures.
7. Ability to operate geographic information system (GIS) equipment and programs; ability to use GIS techniques to produce integrated maps and analysis; and ability to enter data and write programs for map production in other programming languages.
8. Ensure adequate set-up and maintenance to support full use of Access databases as well as other relational management database systems; document imaging or backup software capabilities; and create/maintain security access to databases.
9. Act as a resource, providing support to staff with respect to software applications, database structure and use, downloading protocols, word processing, query languages and reporting tools.
10.Perform other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.
Knowledge & Skills Qualifications:
· Typically has the education associated with a Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of professional experience in computer programming/data mining or an equivalent combination of academic and directly related professional work experience;
· Practical experience in two or more programming applications software packages, preferably including knowledge of relational database design, the ability to read and understand data dictionaries, data coding, and the ability to infer the relationship of the tables to the application and the process.
· Demonstrated programming experience using Excel, Access, SQL, and/or Oracle.
· Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal & communication skills.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks.
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a data team.
