Data Steward

Dean Health System is currently seeking a Data Steward to join our data warehouse team at our Dean Business Office in Madison, WI.

The role of the Data Steward is to implement and maintain data management processes that assure the highest quality and integrity of data and promote an organization wide culture that recognizes data as a corporate asset. This will be accomplished by promoting an organization wide culture that recognizes data as a corporate asset, by facilitating a data governance structure to support that culture, and by implementing a continuous quality improvement program with the goal of maintaining the highest level of information quality and reliability from source data to end user information.  Since this data to information stream involves multiple sources and users in multiple business areas, the Data Steward will manage the data quality activities of representatives from throughout the organization

Required Skills:Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent with 5-7 years of relevant experience OR an Associate degree with 7-9 years of relevant experience.Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, practices, and data validation methodologies.Experience using the concepts, tools, and techniques of continuous quality improvement.Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.Experience analyzing data from large relational databases using common applications and database native languages.Proven project management skills.Demonstrated personal initiative and leadership, team player and strong communication skills.  Ability to balance opposing view points and seek optimal solutionsExcellent customer service and process improvement skills.

Preferred Skills:Experience with healthcare or insurance related industry.Clarity, Epic Applications or data warehousing experience.Six-sigma or Lean process measurement and control knowledge to support the optimization of business processes related to data stewardship.
