Data Steward (Business Intelligence)

Reperio, Inc., a Boston area search firm, is conducting a search for a Business Intelligence Data Steward located at our client's corporate office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  The Data Steward’s role is to strategically manage knowledge about data assets across the enterprise.  This individual is responsible for the ease of use of the Business Intelligence Schema, including organization, naming standards, and data quality monitoring, and initiation of corrective action plans.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understands data assets, and all internal and external chains that provide that data; collaborates on data lineage, data models, and other metadata documentation.
• Works with Business Owners to define data quality requirements for Business Intelligence data assets.
• Ensures that data flowing into the Business Intelligence environment meets data quality and other standards.
• Diagnoses root causes for poor data quality, developing and implementing processes and procedures to rectify such data, and the processes that generated it.
• Participates in the review process for new data, and new Business Intelligence objects based on data, to ensure that naming standards are adhered to, formulae are accurate, descriptions understandable, and objects are not redundant.
• Takes ownership of the organization and usability of the Business Intelligence object schema.

Qualifications:

• Three to five years data analysis experience with data assets
• Experience in Information Quality initiatives preferred
• Experience with data warehouse implementations
• Experience with development and implementation of data standards

• Problem solving, diagnostic capabilities
• Tenacious drive for schema organization and improvement
• Strong presentation and tactful negotiation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must possess a general understanding of typical Windows desktop applications and strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline required.  Education in Knowledge Management, or Library Science is a plus.
