Database Administrator / Developer

The Database Administrator / Developer is responsible for the overall data storage/retrieval systems for online gaming projects. Works with a team of game developers to deliver quality software from a given set of requirements for massively multiplayer online gaming projects. Essential Functions: Perform setup/configuration/backup/recovery of databases systemsTune, troubleshoot and recommend ways to increase performanceProvide support to developers for integrating development environment (C++/C#) to databaseDatabase performance tuning and capacity planningReview schema design and data definitions for production systemsEvaluate and recommend database hardware and softwareActive participant in regular team meetings related to productivity, process, work flow and qualityBreak down tasks and provide time estimates to LeadWork with all types of development staffPosition reports to Lead ProgrammerFunctional Knowledge:

Ability to write raw SQL without referenceThorough knowledge of toolsets to identify database performance issuesAbility to create complex stored procedures and views with transaction level locking strategiesKnowledge and skill to implement various database replication and clustering methodsMicrosoft SQL Server 2005Previous experience with large data sets and high transaction environmentsFamiliarity with Version Control Software (Ex. Alienbrain, Perforce, Subversion, Source Safe, etc.)Excellent speaking, presentation and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively on a teamExperience working on a development team and the ability to proactively recognize and raise quality issues and suggest appropriate resolutions
Minimum Qualifications: Computer Science degree or equivalent work experienceAt least 3 years of experience in production database administration, preferably in environments of 50 gigabytes/day of transactional activityPrevious game experience a plusWorking knowledge of Massively Multiplayer GamesPassion for gamesWilling to relocate to Denver, CO area for full-time employmentSalary based on experience; 401k, health insurance, and other benefits provided
