SUMMARYThe Database Administrator II reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains production and corporate databases. This incumbent is also responsible for identifying data sources, constructing data decomposition diagrams, providing data flow diagrams and documenting the process. This individual will also write code for database access, make modifications, and constructions including stored procedures. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for maintaining the database in good working order and performing tasks necessary to ensure continued growth and stability of the database.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInstall and configure SQL Server 2005Setup and maintain SQL Server account securitySetup and maintain SQL Server replicationPerforms SQL backups and restoresSetup, schedule, and troubleshoot SQL Server jobsAbility to setup, run, and schedule SQL Server Profiler tracesParticipates in on-call responsibilities including 24/7 support of production systems with 5 minute response timeDiagnose and resolve performance issues with stored procedures, functions and queriesApplies updates and upgrades to production database environmentsSetup, monitor and configure SQL Disaster Recovery system using log shippingSetup, configure, and maintain clustered SQL environmentAttends project meetings with team membersAssists with the development and implementation of standardsEnsures data integrity in applicationsAssists in the logical and physical database designOther duties as assigned EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related area preferred with two (2) to three (3) years development/IT experience and two (2) to four (4) years relational database experience required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESExpert in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 administrationExpert in Structured Query Language (SQL)Expert in writing Stored ProceduresProficiency in relational database designProficiency in SSIS and DTSKnowledge of Transactional ReplicationKnowledge of Active Server Pages (ASP); Visual Basic 6.0, VB.net; Visual Basic Script, XMLKnowledge of database driven Internet applicationsCoding skills in multiple languages desired Mathematical skills including basic algebra and statistical analysisStrong PC skills including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to be flexible and adapt to any given situationAbility to perform multiple tasks concurrentlyExcellent customer service attitude, communication skills (written and verbal), and interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to make timely and sound decisionsDetail orientedAbility to work independently and in a team based environmentAbility to work efficiently in a fast paced environmentAbility to work under pressure and in high stress situationsAbility to be self motivatedCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) a plus.
