Database Programmer

 SUMMARY

Performs product design, bug verification, release testing, and beta support projects which may require research and analysis. Operates under general supervision. Reports to the Development Manager. Typically requires four to five years of technical experience in product design and product support.

Responsible for developing, writing, testing and debugging database code for new and upgraded software products. Along with developing software, this individual will work as part of a team to ensure that all designated features conform to coding standards and best practices. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three years programming experience at an advanced level. Successful candidates will be independent problem solvers and true team players.

Technical skills include: PL/SQL, Database Design, Oracle 9i and 10g, SQL2000 and SQL2005. Not required skills but preferred are Visual C++, MFC & COM.

• Strong knowledge of software development and release management concepts, practices and procedures.

• Experience in database design a must.

• Experience in performance tuning database code.

• Familiar with standard project management methodologies for managing scope, resources, and timelines.

• Ability to multi-task, makes decisions, and operates, at times, under pressure.

• Must be self motivated and willing to participate in testing of internet-based and/or client server products.

• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills as well as experience interfacing with business groups.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, software engineering or computer science or three to five years related experience in software development or equivalent combination of education and experience.
