Database Systems Engineer

A client in the Bowling Green area is seeking a Database Systems Engineer for a permanent position. The Engineer will support the client’s infrastructure database server systems with regards to installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, updates and performance tuning. The position will monitor existing services and applications, create and troubleshoot jobs according to service levels and provide technical support as necessary to other Infrastructure personnel such as Helpdesk and other IS department sections as well as the client's customers. The position will develop technical and best practice expertise for the client’s database/application servers as it relates to daily operations including disaster recovery.Responsibilities: • Perform new installations of MS SQL server and migrations of existing SQL Server databases and troubleshoot production systems• Develop MS SQL server jobs and troubleshoot existing jobs including daily backups incorporating log shipping technologies• Day to day support of SQL systems which includes routine monitoring and taking appropriate pro-active measures to maintain systems including normal database administration• Support Information Systems DBA related requests from both internal and external customers• Provide support as necessary for non-SQL server based applications throughout the organization• Plan maintenance and related changes for productions systems in order to meet operational requirements• Assist in the support and development of the Helpdesk software system• Assist the support/development of the Symantec enterprise vault system for the client's email• Perform other duties as assignedRequirements: • 4 year IT related B.S. degree with at least 5 years experience • 3 yrs experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and above• Microsoft Certified Database Administrator preferred but not required• Migration and update experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and above• Experience with MS SQL server replication as well as log shipping technologies• Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, associated security & networking knowledgeAlltech, Inc. is a leading provider of IT staffing services in Nashville and the surrounding areas.
