Director, Powertrain Applications
Role & Responsibilities:

Frequent travel will be required for this position. This includes:
· Customer visits (worldwide) to present results and best practices, to perform customer process audits, to participate in experimental activities, etc. In general, these visits will be carried out together with members of Exa’s local sales teams.
· Participation in internal company events such as sales meetings (semi-annual), trainings, etc.
The objective of this position is to lead Exa’s drive into the design and development of powetrain systems within the automotive industry. This position reports to the Director of Thermal Product Management and can be located in Detroit, MI, or at Exa’s headquarters in Burlington, MA. The main objective of an Applications Director at Exa is to drive revenue, and success will be measured by revenue growth in the respective areas of application.
Additional responsibilities of this position include:
· Being the lead representative for Exa’s customers and partners for powertrain applications in the automotive industry:
o Develop and maintain high-level sales presentations and marketing material summarizing PowerFLOW’s powertrain simulation capabilities
o Understand and analyze current processes customers employ for powertrain development, and suggest changes and improvements to maximize the benefit the customer can derive from PowerFLOW simulations
o Manage partnerships with suppliers of related CAE tools
· Being the lead representative (internal) for powertrain applications
o Provide feedback to Exa’s development team about customer needs and product requirements for powertrain applications
o Coordinate validation activities with development team
o Sign-off on new releases for powertrain test cases
· Management of Powertrain Partnerships and Consortia
o Develop and maintain partnerships proposals and work plans
o Develop and maintain consortium work plans
o Communicate work plans, results, and other updates to partners and consortia members
o Organize consortium meetings
· Manage team of technical specialists
· Build relationships with academia and research institutions
o Identify suitable partners in universities and research organisations
o Build and maintain relationships with these partners
Requirements:
· Minimum BS, M.S., Ph.D. or equivalent in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 7 years experience in a position related to powertrain design and development in the automotive industry.
· Experience in the use of CFD and CAE tools related to powertrain design and development
· Extensive technical background and experience in powertrain development
· Management experience as a group or department leader
