We are currently recruiting for a Director, Product Development for our Development team in Richmond, VA. This role is responsible for leading, and overall management of the Payerpath development organization, including design, development and quality of the product suite. Responsibilities Include:• Provide leadership that will enable the Development staff to meet the performance goals of the department.• Oversee New Product Design and Development (driven by client needs and the competitive landscape), Customer Care Development (driven by product quality and service responsiveness), and Quality Assurance (acting as the gatekeeper to ensure the highest level of standards in delivering quality product).• Work cross-departmentally with outside vendors and clients to discuss and resolve issues related to software development.• Direct software development projects of varying sizes through development managers and project managers.• Ensure software projects are completed on time and according to product specifications and corporate quality standards, and are properly documented.• Facilitate communication upward and across project team including project status, justifications for variances, and technical information (architecture, design, and implementation objectives).• Organize projects through development of Project Plans.• Prioritize, schedule, allocate resources in coordination with project managers for software development projects. • Ensure that documentation gets the appropriate level of technical review support; QA test plans meet the project requirements; appropriate development and corporate procedures are followed.• Design and enhance internal processes that strengthen the overall quality and delivery of the products.• Work closely with other development departments to ensure that the product development methodologies are aligned to ensure quality software releases/suites are deployed in a timely manner.• Work with the Solutions Management Team to ensure that the product has the necessary features to maintain a competitive advantage.• Work with team members to develop goals, project plans, and problem-solving strategies.• Promote a culture that instills a focus on the customer by understanding their needs and delivering value with each interaction.• Work with Team Leaders to ensure adequate resources, technology, and scheduling for software releases with full accountability for on-time delivery of high quality product with high client satisfaction.• Create and oversees departmental budget.• Manage all employee related activities (i.e. hires, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines).• Provide ongoing development, feedback, coaching, and mentoring to the Development team. • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications:Education/Experience:• B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent experience.• Successful track record leading or managing major projects in a software development environment.• Excellent understanding of the business applications deployed in both large and small enterprise healthcare organizations, or the ability to apply unrelated knowledge to the healthcare industry.• Strong ability to network within the industry• Demonstrated ability to attract talent, coach, and develop staff.• 12 + years of software development management or related experience with proven success at meeting deliverable deadlines at measurable levels of quality, with at least 5 or more years in a management role. • Experience managing Managers a must.• Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and make decisions.• Ability to evaluate business opportunities.• Strong leadership and people skills including the ability to delegate responsibility effectively.• Strong planning skills to determine and meet departmental objectives.• Good understanding and execution of Product Development methodologies and industry accepted software quality standards.• Ability to think creatively, logically while interpreting and analyzing problems assigned or encountered.• Resourcefulness and ability to take the initiative in development and completion of work projects. • Ability to participate in, as well as promote, a team environment.• Ability to work and communicate with clients and other departments in an effective and positive manner.Misys Healthcare: Experience, Solutions, Results
