SUMMARY:This senior management position is responsible for providing leadership in establishing the overall direction and management of the Security and Human Resources functions for the SEI. This position is responsible for defining and implementing the strategy and plan for the SEI security program and for developing and implementing plans, policies, and programs in support of SEI’s Human Resource initiatives.The incumbent will be responsible for physical security, clearances, handling of classified information, policies, and training for the SEI classified effort in line with the SEI’s Controlled Information Management System (CIMS), the National Industrial Security Operating Manual (NISPOM), Director of Central Intelligence Directives (DCID), and Defense Security Services (DSS) compliance requirements.In addition, he/she will oversee the SEI’s employee classification and compensation programs; performance management and employee relations programs; training and development programs; and staffing programs in line with SEI’s strategic objectives and Carnegie Mellon University practices and policies.Education and Training:Master's degree in security, business administration, human resources, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience:Five (5) years experience in management and development of policies and procedures for DoD classified work and ten (10) years management experience in the areas of human resources including staffing, benefits, compensation, learning and development, employee relations. The successful candidate must have experience in building and managing a staff responsible for maintaining the policies and procedures related to DoD classified work; demonstrated capability in program planning, design, and implementation; and experience managing diverse responsibilities in a complex consultative environment.Skills/Abilities:Knowledgeable in all areas of security and human resources at a senior level. Ability to successfully manage multiple responsibilities and sometimes conflicting demands to meet organizational goals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills required to build relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead, coach, and facilitate groups and teams.Mobility: Mostly sedentary, ability to travel to various SEI domestic and international locations to conduct security analyses and assessments.Environmental Conditions: Normal office conditions.Mental: Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities. Ability to work under pressure and remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult people and situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.Other: Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance and ability to obtain SCI level access.
