EMS Database Specialist II

 

POSITION DUTIES:  This position, under the direction of the Director of Data Operations, will perform querying of MIEMSS operational databases in response to internal and external data requests and as part of the testing and verification of SQL procedures and automated database processes.  Tasks associated with database documentation, maintenance of data within database look-up tables, and meta-data maintenance will be performed by this individual.  The person in this position will also support the electronic processing and upload of scanned form data into SQL Server databases.  As a member of the data team, the employee will work with Quality Improvement to assess levels of data integrity within operational databases, the SQL Server Specialist on database development, and assist the Application Operations Specialist in application end-user support and training.

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology-related field to include course work in data management systems. 

 

 Experience: One year experience designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and controlling data base management systems for multipurpose, multi-tasking computer.  Experience in SQL coding, Microsoft SQL server, and Microsoft Access required.  Experience with FoxPro, SAS, Crystal Reports desired.

 
Knowledge of health care related databases, especially those relevant to Maryland EMS system design and protocol, are helpful.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE CLASSIFICATION: 

Experience in SQL coding, Microsoft SQL server, and Microsoft Access required.  Experience with FoxPro, SAS, Crystal Reports desired.
