EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Location:  Minneapolis, MN

Primary Objective: 

This position is responsible for software development for medical device products.  This includes design, proof-of concept, detailed design, code, unit and integration test.

 

 

Essential Job Functions: 

Ø  Design, develop, and debug embedded software

Ø  Develop the documentation associated with design, and development activities

Ø  Assist in hardware/software system architecture design tradeoffs

Ø  Assist in the resolution of software design tradeoffs

Ø  Assist with system engineering issues (tolerance, system architecture, etc.)

Ø  Assist the design verification and validation test efforts as required

Ø  Assist in maintaining ISO certification

Ø  Assist in 501(k) submission requirements

Ø  Consult and communicate with the program and project management

Ø  Integrate with the entire project team

 

 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Ø  B.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, or Software Engineering.

Ø  5+ years experience in software development for embedded / firmware applications.  Prior medical device experience is a plus, but not required.

Ø  Excellent C++ knowledge.  Development Tools:  MS Visual Studio 6.0/.NET Operating Systems: Windows CE, XP, Embedded RTOS (e.g. Nucleus).

Ø  Experience with distributed embedded systems GUI development experience.

Ø  Experience with federal regulations and ISO requirements for software development, plus formal (CMM or CMMI) development processes and related measurement activities.

Ø  Good communication, verbal/writing skills, and strong understanding of algorithms and data structures, configuration management tools (ex. PVCS, MS SourceSafe).

Ø  Other programming languages such as .NET, XML, XSL, HTML and communication protocols (TCP/IP, UPnP, Web Services, SOAP).

Ø  Experience with requirements management, modeling tools (UML, Rhapsody, CaliberRM), automated unit test tools (e.g. LabVIEW, Winrunner, VectorCover, TestConductor) Microsoft Office Products.
